AI is increasingly changing how people research health products, compare treatment options and find healthcare providers. When someone asks ChatGPT “What is the best allergy medication?” or “Where can I buy a reliable healthcare product?”, the brands and providers appearing in that answer can become part of the consideration journey. These are illustrative questions, not medical recommendations.
Peak Ace’s LLM Visibility Benchmark analysed a fixed set of 1,000 commercially relevant prompts across 10 industries in the German market during August 2026. Across Gemini, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, we measured which brands show up in AI-generated answers, which source types are retrieved and how brands are spoken about. Here’s what this standardised snapshot reveals for Health & Wellness, and what it may imply for AI search visibility, GEO healthcare and GEO wellness strategies in 2026.
The main focus is the source mix behind the answers. In our Health & Wellness benchmark runs, articles lead the source-type lists for recommendations, comparisons and guidance, while category pages lead for pricing and purchasing questions.

How we conducted our LLM Visibility Benchmark
The benchmark is built on a clear, replicable methodology:
- 1,000 standardised bottom-of-funnel prompts across 10 industries, each with 100 commercially relevant prompts.
- Prompts were split across 10 topic clusters per industry.
- Four intent types were tested: best/top/test winner, comparisons, pricing/where to buy, and criteria/guidance, with 25 prompts per intent in each industry.
- The analysis focused on the German market and German-language prompts during August 2026.
- Gemini, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews were monitored. Each prompt ran 15 times, five times per AI environment.
- Data was sourced from Peec AI exports; 50 brands per industry were monitored, with reporting focused on the Top 20 by visibility.
- The three core KPIs are visibility, Share of Voice/SOV and sentiment. Visibility measures how often an entity appears in answers for the prompt set; SOV captures its share of voice in the monitored dataset; and sentiment measures the tone of answers mentioning an entity on a 0–100 scale. For concentration analysis, SOV shares are normalised to 100% within the Top 20.
The source analysis describes retrieval counts and URL types by industry and intent. These results relate to the fixed prompt set, selected systems, monitored entities and study period, not to healthcare AI usage in general.

AI Search Visibility for Healthcare Brands: How does Health & Wellness compare?
In our standardised benchmark for Germany in August 2026, Health & Wellness shows a distinct source mix. Articles lead the lists for recommendations, comparisons and criteria/guidance, while category pages lead for pricing/where to buy.
Across all 10 industries, the pattern differs: comparison pages are the leading source type for recommendation and comparison prompts, while how-to guides lead for criteria/guidance. This is an industry difference in the sources retrieved for our fixed prompt set, not a measure of which industry performs best.
Here’s how the leading source types compare:
| Intent | Health & Wellness: leading source type | Across all 10 industries: leading source type and retrieval share |
| Best/top/test winner | Article | Comparison, 28.31% |
| Comparisons | Article | Comparison, 32.65% |
| Criteria/guidance | Article | How-To Guide, 22.33% |
| Pricing/where to buy | Category Page | Comparison, 22.64% |
The percentages describe the cross-industry retrieval mix, not Health & Wellness shares or explicit citation rates. The Health & Wellness scorecard recorded 71,990 retrievals in total.
For additional context, Health & Wellness has an average visibility of 3.55%, average SOV of 3.8% and sentiment of 51.6 within the benchmark. These metrics describe the monitored dataset; they do not establish the general visibility or quality of healthcare brands. Sentiment should primarily be understood as a relative measure of answer tone within the dataset.
The category also has an HHI of 1,132 and a Top-3 Share of 50%. Half of the SOV normalised within the Top 20 is concentrated among the three entities with the largest SOV shares. This is not market share. The benchmark measures that distribution, not why an individual entity is selected or how likely a smaller brand is to be recommended.
Practical implication: review the source mix for the questions you want to address, rather than using an industry ranking to decide where to invest in content.
Which Health & Wellness brands are most visible in AI?
According to Peak Ace’s standardised benchmark for Germany in August 2026, the top three entities by visibility in the Health & Wellness prompt set are:
- Ibuprofen AL: 11% visibility.
- Cetirizin HEXAL: 9% visibility.
- DocMorris: 8% visibility.
The composition of this group is particularly relevant when considering AI in medicine and healthcare. Ibuprofen AL and Cetirizin HEXAL are medicine brands, while DocMorris is a pharmacy provider. The benchmark tracks entities such as products, brands or programmes, rather than necessarily the wider corporate group.
This is especially important for commercial health-related questions. A user may ask which product to consider, where to buy it or what criteria matter when choosing one, rather than asking about a manufacturer. The monitored entity therefore matters when interpreting the snapshot.
Which Sources Do LLMs Use for Healthcare and Wellness Questions?
The benchmark also analysed which types of content the selected AI systems retrieved when processing our fixed Health & Wellness prompt set.
Note: retrieval data shows which sources a system accessed during answer generation. It does not necessarily mean that the source was explicitly cited in the final answer.
The observed source mix varies by intent:
| Intent | Leading benchmark source types, in descending order |
| Best/Top/Test winner | Article, Comparison, Listicle, Other |
| Compare vs. | Article, Comparison, Other, How-To Guide |
| Criteria/Guidance | Article, How-To Guide, Other, Category Page |
| Pricing/Where to buy | Category Page, Homepage, Article, Other |
Several things stand out:
First, Health & Wellness does not follow a single-source pattern in our benchmark runs. The retrieval mix spans articles, comparison pages, how-to guides, homepages, category pages and other source types.
Second, articles are particularly prominent. They lead the lists for recommendations, comparisons and criteria/guidance, with how-to guides second for criteria/guidance. This differs from the cross-industry guidance mix, where how-to guides lead.
Third, purchasing questions show a different pattern. Category pages and homepages lead the pricing/where-to-buy list. Comparison content remains relevant too, appearing second for both recommendation and comparison prompts.
“Other” is a residual category, not a single identifiable format or a measure of medical authority.
Importantly, retrieval is not the same as citation. A page being accessed does not guarantee that it will be named or linked in the final answer, or that a brand on that page will be mentioned.
For healthcare marketers, the practical implication is to review the wider information environment around a brand alongside its own website. The observed source mix suggests where to investigate, but does not prove that a particular format causes visibility.
AI Visibility for Healthcare: The GEO Strategy Guide
The Health & Wellness data raises several questions that healthcare and wellness marketers should consider.
- Are you visible across the source types retrieved in our benchmark? A strong healthcare website is important, but the observed source mix also includes articles, comparisons and guides. Practical implication: review relevant content on your own website and appropriate third-party sources, rather than assuming your website alone covers the information environment.
- Does your content strategy cover all four intent types? Users may ask for recommendations, comparisons, pricing or practical guidance. Articles lead three intent lists, but category pages and homepages lead for purchasing questions. Practical implication: plan content around the question and its intent, not just one preferred format.
- Are you building authority beyond your own domain? The benchmark shows a broad retrieval mix across the selected AI systems. Practical implication: consider relevant, evidence-led editorial coverage and expert contributions through Digital PR. The source classifications do not establish that every article is independent or reliable.
- Have you considered a GEO healthcare strategy? Generative Engine Optimisation provides a framework for working on presence in AI-generated answers by combining SEO, content and Digital PR. Use a defined prompt set to monitor brand mentions and retrieved sources separately, then review changes by intent and system.
These are practical recommendations based on the observed source mix, not tactics proven by the benchmark to increase visibility. For healthcare and wellness content, accuracy, evidence and appropriate medical information standards remain essential.
The Full Picture Is in the LLM Visibility Benchmark
This blog post covers the Health & Wellness highlights. The full LLM Visibility Benchmark goes considerably deeper:
- How the source mix differs across all 10 industries.
- How source types change depending on whether users ask for recommendations, comparisons, pricing or guidance.
- Brand visibility, SOV and sentiment within the defined benchmark.
- The concentration of SOV within each industry’s Top 20.
- The industry scorecards and full methodology.
- Cross-industry observations that can inform content and Digital PR priorities.
The Health & Wellness results are particularly useful for reviewing the sources behind answers to the benchmark’s commercial questions. They do not establish how healthcare performs in general or directly compare AI visibility with traditional search rankings.

FAQ: AI Visibility in Health & Wellness
How visible are healthcare and wellness brands in ChatGPT and other AI assistants?
Health & Wellness achieves an average visibility of 3.55% in Peak Ace’s standardised benchmark for Germany in August 2026. The figure applies to the fixed commercial prompt set, monitored entities and selected AI systems, not to all healthcare brands or all health-related questions.
Which Health & Wellness brands are most visible in AI search?
In our Health & Wellness benchmark snapshot, Ibuprofen AL has 11% visibility, followed by Cetirizin HEXAL at 9% and DocMorris at 8%. The benchmark tracks entities such as products, brands or programmes, rather than necessarily the wider corporate group. These figures do not assess medical quality or suitability.
What types of content do LLMs use to answer healthcare questions?
In our Health & Wellness benchmark runs, articles lead the source-type lists for recommendations, comparisons and criteria/guidance. Category pages lead for pricing/where to buy. Comparisons, how-to guides, listicles, homepages and other types also feature among the leading sources for particular intents. Retrieval does not necessarily mean explicit citation.
Does AI search visibility matter for healthcare organisations?
AI assistants provide another interface through which users can research products, services and information. For healthcare organisations, presence in those answers should be considered alongside accuracy, evidence, trust and appropriate medical information standards. The benchmark does not measure the clinical or commercial impact of a mention.
What is a GEO strategy for healthcare?
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimisation, is a framework for working on visibility in AI-generated answers. For healthcare, a strategy can combine structured website content, useful educational resources, relevant comparison and guidance formats, appropriate third-party coverage and Digital PR, supported by monitoring.
How can healthcare brands improve AI search visibility in 2026?
Start by mapping the questions your audiences ask across recommendation, comparison, pricing and guidance intents. Then review the retrieved source mix, build useful and accurate content around those questions, and consider relevant third-party coverage. A combined SEO, content and Digital PR approach offers a practical basis for a GEO strategy. Monitor subsequent changes rather than assuming that any individual format or placement guarantees greater visibility.
