Our Exciting Experience at the International Social Summit in Barcelona
Our Peak Acers Marina Hess and Yannick Arndt recently shared their expert knowledge with the marketing community when they gave their talk “Navigating international markets: AI’s role in paid social content localisation” at the International Social Summit in the beautiful city of Barcelona. The event, which took place at the World Trade Center, was a phenomenal gathering that brought together social media managers and digital marketing professionals from around the world, offering plenty of great networking opportunities.
The event was hosted at the World Trade Center in Barcelona – a stunning location nestled in the harbour area, surrounded by yachts and cruise ships. The setting, under the iconic cable car route that traverses Barcelona, provided a picturesque backdrop for the summit.
The Pre-Party – Networking in Style
Before the main event, we attended a pre-party hosted by Semrush. This event was held on a roof terrace, offering a stellar view of Barcelona at night, and was a great event complete with a DJ, drinks, and snacks. It was a perfect opportunity to network with other agencies and speakers in a relaxed setting. A memorable highlight was the craft ice cream on offer, with unique flavours like rosemary blossom and dulce de leche, alongside all-time classics like vanilla and chocolate.
Our Presentation on AI for Localisation – “Navigating international markets: AI’s role in paid social content localisation”
Unsurprisingly, one of the standout moments for us was the talk by our Peak Acers Marina Hess and Yannick Arndt on the use of AI for localisation.
“Navigating international markets: AI’s role in paid social content localisation” was kicked off by Marina, who gave a theoretical introduction, explaining why AI language models are perfectly suited for tackling localisation tasks. Then Yannick gave a practical demonstration, showcasing Peak Ace’s own innovative AI-powered solution: a Google Sheets integration using the ChatGPT API, which we specifically developed for increased localisation efficiency. The Event Schedule
The summit lasted a full day and was divided into three blocks spanning three sessions across two halls. The first block ended with a coffee break and breakfast. Following another three insightful sessions, block two concluded with a lunch break, offering a great selection of tasty meals and local specialties. After the final three sessions the summit ended with a major keynote presentation by Michael Corcoran, former Ryanair marketing guru and current head of his own agency.
Highlights and Personal Moments
- Yannick’s Interview and Gaming Feat: Yannick gave an exclusive expert interview with Content Labs, which he followed up by achieving the high score in a Super Mario-like game, Seaside Sprint, during the break. A successful afternoon all round!
- Exploring Barcelona: After the event, we had the opportunity to explore Barcelona. We enjoyed a delightful dinner in the Sant Antoni neighbourhood with Aina Bonnin, the Spanish Brand Manager for Leatherman, who just happened to be a Barcelona local.
The International Social Summit was an incredible experience, providing us with valuable insights, new ideas, and the chance to connect with industry leaders. We returned inspired and equipped with fresh strategies to enhance our social media campaigns and are looking forward to implementing what we learned while continuing to innovate the ever-changing digital marketing landscape.
Thank you, Barcelona, and thank you to all the amazing people we met at the summit. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!
