Get involved and make a difference
This summer, our team at Peak Ace once again rolled up their sleeves and gave back to our local community through our annual Social Days. Our Peak Acers used their time and skills to support local charities, providing support to some fantastic organisations while strengthening their own team spirit.
Beautifying spaces for Jugendwohnen im Kiez
On May 15, 2024, nine enthusiastic Peak Acers split into two groups to help Jugendwohnen im Kiez e.V, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people with various care and therapy options.
The first group visited a youth home for young people who are temporarily unable to live at home. They spent the day painting a corridor and creating a fresh, cheerful atmosphere. You can find out more about the youth home on their website.
Meanwhile, the second group was tasked with painting the doors of a garden shed at a nearby nursery. Working outside and freshening up the play area was a delightful experience, as was the opportunity to spend time together and give something back. Find out more about the nursery here.
Both groups had a fantastic time and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the staff, refreshments and snacks. Plus, the locations were within walking distance of our office!
Preparing meals for the homeless
On May 22nd, four more dedicated Peak Acers volunteered at Berliner Obdachlosenhilfe eV . They began the day with an introduction to the organisation, which regularly prepares meals from donated food and distributes them, along with clothing, sleeping bags, tents and hygiene items, to homeless people throughout Berlin.
Our team was tasked with preparing a healthy fruit salad and chopped up around 20kg of different fruits. They also helped prepare hot meals and sort donated clothing. It was a rewarding experience, full of laughter and camaraderie, and the Berliner Obdachlosenhilfe team were incredibly welcoming!
Teaching and learning with young minds at the Spurwechsel day group
Four of our Peak Acers, including three of our trainees, decided to support the Spurwechsel day group in Neukölln on May 24th – another project by Jugendwohnen im Kiez. The aim was to tell the young people there more about our apprenticeships in the field of design and marketing communication and to create some social media content about the day group itself.
This day group offers an alternative form of school for young people aged 13 to 16 who have difficulties with the traditional school system. You can find out more about the day group here .
Our team shared insights into their careers in design and marketing communications, had lively discussions, and learned about the daily routine and the special features of the day group. Our Peak Acers were warmly welcomed and during their stay they spoke with the two teachers as well as the students, and with a former student who completed his MSA (Mittlere Schulabschluss) at the day group two years ago and is now doing his Abitur (A-levels). The students explained their daily routine and how the day group differs from a traditional school.
Our Peak Acers listened carefully, took notes and discussed what hashtags could be used to get the group more traction on social media. They even conducted an interview with the former student, which will be published on the group’s Instagram page in the future. The team also created social media content from the students’ stories and quotes.
The visit was enriching and informative, and our team left with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the valuable work the charity does. They are grateful for the opportunity to contribute and raise awareness for this important cause through social media!
Social Days are part of our commitment to giving back to the community. It was encouraging to see our teams come together, share their skills, and make a tangible difference in the lives of others. The experiences gained and connections made are priceless and we look forward to continuing this tradition of social engagement next year!
