Peak Ace attends CNA’s Germany Showcase: Why Asian Perspectives Belong in European News Feeds

Last Friday, the Peak Ace team joined CNA at their showcase event in Germany. The room brought together media and communications professionals, policy makers, academics and business leaders; people who think seriously about how information travels across borders.

A Good Room To Be In

CNA’s Berlin showcase was itself a strong signal of the commitment behind the expansion. The guest list – spanning media and communications professionals, policy makers, academics and business leaders – reflected an organisation that understands its expansion into Germany requires relationships and credibility, not just distribution.

The showcase was topped off with panel discussions, screenings of CNA’s award-winning current affairs programme Insight and a discussion about one of its latest documentaries.

This showcase left no doubt: we’re incredibly excited to be part of CNA’s journey.

A Gap That Matters

CNA, based in Singapore and part of Mediacorp, made a compelling case for expanding its presence in Europe, following recent expansions into the US and UK.

With resource-constrained editorial teams, local expertise is often hard to scale, and the perspective of someone who has lived through a story is not always the one that shapes how the story is told in a different time zone.

Consequently, Asian contexts and lived experiences are frequently absent from international coverage of events originating in or directly involving Asia. For audiences in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, that means receiving a lot of international coverage without the grounding that makes it genuinely useful.

European Demand for CNA is Clear

CNA’s popularity among US and European audiences grew during the COVID-19 pandemic, with audiences actively seeking on-the-ground reporting from Asia that offered a different perspective.

That period made clear there is a real and sustained appetite for Asian perspectives in Western markets. CNA is now building on that signal, providing European audiences with depth, context, analysis, nuance and cultural fluency in their coverage of the region.

The work now is about meeting this demand deliberately. A key channel in that strategy is YouTube.

Peak Ace is proud to be supporting CNA’s Germany rollout on YouTube. Our work will focus on helping CNA reach and grow the right audiences on the platform –  people who are curious, globally minded, and seeking true regional depth.

That requires a grounded understanding of how German audiences consume news content on YouTube, what earns their sustained attention, and how to build a presence that compounds. We’re looking forward to doing that work diligently.
