Recap of our 6th Digital Marketing Meetup: A night of networking and new insights

On the evening of August 27th, 2024, nearly 100 digital marketing enthusiasts gathered at Peak Ace’s Berlin office in Kreuzberg for our 6th Digital Marketing Meetup. This event, part of our ongoing series held every 2-3 months, brought together professionals from various industries—ranging from marketing, to tourism, to media, to education—united by a shared interest in learning more about brand building through video in digital marketing.

A night focused on brand building with video

The theme for this meetup was “brand building with video” and had a special focus on leveraging platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube to grow brands effectively. Our Peak Ace stage set the scene for two insightful talks that provided attendees with actionable strategies and a deeper understanding of video marketing.

Expert talks that sparked lively discussions

Talk 1: Mastering Video Ads – Winning Strategies for Shorts, TikTok, and Reels

The first talk of the evening was delivered by Marco Gilly, CDO/CMO at KG Media Factory. Marco delved into the art of creating impactful short-form video content, emphasising the importance of a strong hook, native advertising, and the effective use of subtitles, people and voices. One particular slide with the quote “Shitty content = shitty ROI” resonated strongly with the audience and the whole talk sparked a dynamic Q&A session where attendees eagerly sought advice on navigating the ever-evolving landscape of video marketing.

Talk 2: Translating Personas into Campaign Targeting for YouTube

Our second talk was a collaborative presentation by Michael Spichtinger (Strategic Agency Manager at Google), Claudia Capovilla (Performance Marketing Manager at foodspring), and Peak Ace’s own experts Jan Wischniewsky and Ted Sonnenschein. They presented a compelling case study on the work Peak Ace did with foodspring, underscoring the significance of mid and upper funnel investment and the superior ROI that YouTube can deliver compared to TV and other online video platforms. The talk concluded with practical tips on how to tailor campaigns to specific target groups, followed by another round of enthusiastic questions from the audience.

Networking and interaction

Networking is a cornerstone of our meetups, and this event was no exception. From the moment guests started arriving just before 18:00, the room was buzzing with conversation. Attendees mingled freely, sharing insights and connecting over shared interests. The casual, open environment encouraged everyone to engage, and by the end of the night, new connections were flourishing.

Delicious drinks, delectable snacks, and a warm atmosphere

No Peak Ace event is complete without an array of delightful food and drinks. Our attendees enjoyed an open bar offering wine, beer, and soft drinks, accompanied by an impressive selection of canapés from our kitchen team. The mini burgers—available in vegan, veggie, and meat options—were a particular hit, keeping energy levels high throughout the evening.

Positive feedback and looking forward

The feedback we received during and after the event was overwhelmingly positive. The lively Q&A sessions, in particular, highlighted the high level of engagement and interest from our attendees.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that our next meetup will take place in November 2024, with a focus on organic marketing. We can’t wait to bring you more expert insights, unlimited networking opportunities, and, of course, delicious food and drinks.
