Peak Ace pre-SMX event: Drinks, dinner, and an exclusive AI talk

On the 14th of March, the eve of SMX Munich 2023, we were buzzing with excitement. The event we had been preparing for was finally here: our exclusive pre-SMX networking dinner.

A selection of Peak Acers and Peak Ace friends and colleagues from the industry gathered from 19:00 at Little London in Munich to bring in the exciting international conference, celebrate our previous collaborations, and look forward to the future (with the help of a private interactive talk on AI led by Bastian).

The evening began with a champagne reception for the guests. The service team, including two very friendly waiters gave a short introduction to the restaurant, which charmingly raised expectations for a spectacular dinner, and our guests were seated at the King’s Table in the Private Living Room where the dinner was indeed fit for a king! Little London is a famous steakhouse and the meat, including Chateau Briant, has won many important competitions and awards in the past, but our resident vegetarian and Sales Manager Alexander Schorsch assured us that the vegetarian options were equally delicious.

The food was accompanied by the perfect wine, as recommended by the passionate team at Little London, as well as lively and interesting conversation.

Given all this, it may be hard to believe us when we say that dinner wasn’t the only highlight of the evening! Before it was served, Bastian gave an exclusive and entertaining presentation on AI – a flavour of the session he would hold the next day at SMX Munich – and explored how good AI is getting at generating content. Mats Kühl, Head of Performance Advertising at Peak Ace, said that “only a few of us could distinguish the AI generated images Bastian showed us from images taken with a camera”, but that “professionals pay particular attention to reflections on smooth surfaces” to try to identify the AI-generated content from the manmade content.

The presentation sparked many lively and interesting conversations around the table. Mats said that “there were exciting project-related conversations, shop talk about the future of online marketing, and more business-related topics. It was a very successful evening!

The event continued with the food, drinks and bright conversation until around 11pm, at which point our esteemed guests said farewell, took their goodie bags, and headed off to get some rest before the big event: day 1 of SMX Munich and Bastian’s session.

    Our main takeaways:

    1) We are lucky to have so many interesting, warm and good-humoured personalities among our customers.

    2) The “Era of AI” has begun. With ChatGPT and OpenAIs GPT 4.0, AI is showing extreme acceleration and growth.
