Link Risk Management: Protect your Website
Are you looking for an agency that is familiar with backlinks and penalty recovery? We’re here to help. Today it is imperative to be proactive about protecting your website through link risk management., This means actively and regularly analyzing links to your content for quality and removing or canceling “bad” or “harmful” links. For this reason, the Link Profile is one of the fundamental analyses and continuous monitoring processes.
Penguin: Algorithmic depreciation and proactive action
Since Google released the Penguin update in April 2012, malicious links are a constant threat to the link profile of a domain. If, for example, certain patterns are detected or limits exceeded, there may be an algorithmic devaluation by Google. Before this happens, you should have our experienced team evaluate your link profile. This helps minimize the risks inherent in the link profile of your domain and thus protect the domain from an algorithmic update.
Manual Penalties: We can help
A link risk analysis may be necessary due to a Penguin update. It may also be purely proactive or intended to resolve a manual penalty. In cases of manual penalties, the domain has usually been identified and penalized by a Google Quality Rater due to poor or unnatural link construction. In this case, we look for patterns and obviously unnatural links, and help you, through our analysis, to remove or cancel such links. We also handle the request for reconsideration in an effort to resolve the imposed penalty.
Link Risk Management: How we do it
To give you an idea of our process, we would like to briefly illustrate our approach: Depending on whether it is a proactive risk assessment or a clear need for action as a result of manual depreciation, we create an overview of the current link profile. We aggregate as much backlink data as possible from various sources in order to form a balanced picture. For this we use both Google Sample links, which are provided directly by Google Webmaster Tools, as well as data from backlink databases like Majestic, Link Research Tools, Searchmetrics, Sistrix or Ahrefs. We analyze, among other things, which external sources are linking to your domain. We also examine the quality characteristics of these domains and their respective links.
Important to note here is that each market and each topic is different. Therefore, risk potentials in various sectors / verticals can differ. For this reason we analyze not only the link profile of each customer but also the profiles of selected competitors, in order to obtain comparative values. Here, the customer’s own link profile is evaluated in relation to the link profiles of competitors, so that normal market values and conditions can be considered. Peak Ace then performs a link risk assessment based on the link profile and competitive analysis. All the existing links are checked for certain patterns and rules, then classified on an individual basis as “good” or “bad” links.
If either an elevated risk of a manual or automated devaluation from Google is identified, Peak Ace will consult with the customer about which strategy reduction of risky links should follow. Our goal in this case is to hedge the link profile of the customer, minimizing the risk of initial or further penalties.
To ensure the maximum possible protection of the domain, this should be an iterative process, subject to regular control, for example, on a quarterly basis. Any “harmful” links identified can be reduced or canceled in turn. This will ensure effective monitoring of your link profile.
